GAS Foreman
Responsibilities
- Lead the crew to complete daily tasks related to the installation and repair of natural gas pipelines and/or joint trench utilities for power and telephone in a safe and correct manner.
- Oversight of ensuring crew safety and productivity, including installing and pressure testing both mainline and service line gas pipe.
- Completing routine safety inspections and documentation.
- Overseeing, accomplishing, and ensuring all work quality related to each project and assuming full responsibility for its standard and timeliness.
- Coordinating and delegating daily tasks to crew members related to digging and placing product.
- Gaining entry to site buildings for work crew and calling in utilities located at each project site.
- Facilitating daily toolbox talks and weekly safety inspections to ensure the crews work safely.
- Completing all paperwork in a timely manner.
- Training new hires and trainees to learn the trade.
- Tracking employee hours and submitting for payroll on a timely basis.
- Calling in utilities located at each project site.
- Inspecting existing utilities to ensure proper identification and exposure, to ensure piping is correctly installed and fused, job meets customer specifications, and it meets company quality standards.
- Driving, hauling, and/or operating equipment to/from job sites to assist crews in completion of work.
- Keeping the job(s) moving on time, cleaning up, and performing job restoration at the end of job.
- Communicating with customers and inspectors.
- Performing other duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications
- A High School Degree, or equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience with gas pipeline construction or maintenance, with 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in fusing, tapping, pressure testing, and purging.
- A CDL Class A license, or obtain one within 30 days of hire date.
- OSHA 10 Certification.
- Knowledge of gas, and how to safely work with it.
- Knowledge of customer’s specifications, being able to read and interpret prints.
- Proficiency in all phases of the line in construction.
- Following proper safety standards, procedures, and work practices according to MasTec and/or project customer, whichever standard is higher at all times.
- Ability to talk with customers’ inspectors and have a sense of customer service.
- Experience in operating heavy equipment and general construction.
- Proficiency in identifying and distinguishing colors.
- Ability to work outdoors, even in extreme weather conditions.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- This job operates in a field environment.
- Routine requirements include extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.
- Working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- This position is physically active, with lifting required.
- Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
- Precise hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
