Gaming Solution Architect
About the role
The Gaming Solution Architect demonstrates leadership and expertise across enterprise gaming-related functions, ensuring the California State Lottery’s (Lottery) business and IT systems align with strategic goals. Responsibilities include structuring governance, technologies, business processes, and data to guide architecture decisions for the Lottery’s enterprise gaming systems, products, services, partners, vendors, and key initiatives. Work spans Business Technology Management, IT Project Management, Software, and System Engineering domains, with potential assignments in other areas as needed.
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, requiring residence in California. Employees must report to the assigned office as needed, with travel expenses to headquarters being the employee’s responsibility.
Requires a current Information Technology Specialist II exam for list eligibility.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain As-Is and To-Be business flow diagrams for business applications in collaboration with Subject Matter Experts.
- Create user stories and epics to capture requirements and track application feature development.
- Elicit requirements through interviews, document analysis, workshops, and JAD sessions to produce functional and technical requirements.
- Trace requirements from inception to completion (RTM) and perform application testing.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical team members through public speaking and translation.
- Apply project management and Enterprise Architecture best practices, documenting processes and procedures as needed.
- Lead and communicate with project teams to support tasks and deliverables, ensuring active collaboration and timely completion.
Qualifications
- Experience in business flow diagramming, user story/epic creation, and requirements elicitation.
- Proficiency in tracing requirements (RTM) and application testing.
- Strong public speaking and ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Knowledge of project management and Enterprise Architecture best practices.
- Self-motivated with a track record of meeting time-critical deliverables through team collaboration.
- Expert-level experience leading project teams and communicating effectively.
