About the role

Game Nerdz is a retailer of games, accessories, and FUN looking to add to our team-oriented family! The ideal candidate for the Keyholder role is hard-working, has a positive attitude, and is eager to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive on time for shifts, prepared for work.
  • Provide an outstanding customer service experience through product and brand knowledge.
  • Be open to feedback, communicate well, and take action as required.
  • Analyze current and future store sales trends, proactively identifying business opportunities to improve sales metrics.
  • Maintain an impactful store presentation that aligns with Game Nerdz standards and guidelines.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization throughout the store at all times (bathrooms, storage room, cash wrap, office, etc.).
  • Manage cash administration, oversee receiving of new shipments, and control returns, damages, and refunds for consistency and compliance when the Store Manager or Assistant Manager are not present.
  • Oversee loss prevention, shrink goals, monitor store inventories, and ensure the highest level of accuracy.
  • Respond to customer concerns and complaints, including on social media.
  • Promote gaming events and enhance player experience in-store and on social media platforms.
  • Host events taking place in the store.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of leadership experience in retail or hospitality store environments.
  • Hands-on retail experience managing all aspects of a retail store.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as business dictates.
  • Basic knowledge of tabletop games and trading card games.
  • Quick-learner with a willingness to adapt to new processes.
  • Familiarity with various computer and tablet technologies.
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, attention to detail, and follow-up skills.
  • Customer service-oriented with de-escalation skills.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily onsite at the designated Game Nerdz store.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Game Nerdz operates 3 retail locations, 1 HQ Office/Warehouse, and employs over 65 people in Texas.

Schedule

Various hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to kneel, reach, walk, push, pull, and grasp.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to move arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for sustained periods of time.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment where applicable.
  • Ability to talk on the phone and use a computer for extended periods of time.

Environmental Exposure

  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • May involve exposure to moderate to high noise levels from phones, TVs, in-store gameplay, and shoppers.
