Direct-care role providing supervision, support, and independent-living instruction to children residing at the FYI Center.
Responsibilities
- Conduct visual inspections of children and their living areas.
- Perform daily facility upkeep, including light cleaning.
- Complete intake processes for incoming children.
- Lead and participate in engaging recreational activities.
- Teach independent living skills as appropriate.
- Complete Motivational Interviewing training (provided) within 3 months of hire.
- Adhere to Marion Superior Court and FYI Center policies and procedures.
- Make referrals to community resources.
- Complete incident reports and treatment plans.
- Become CANS certified within 3 months of employment.
- Understand and teach activities of daily living.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Complete timely data entry.
- Complete 20 hours of yearly training related to youth services.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and service providers; maintain professional communication.
- Comply with DCS rules and regulations.
- Review documents and provide guidance and feedback.
- Conduct meetings with youth and families when required by a case manager.
- Serve in additional capacities as directed by the Chief Probation Officer, adhering to team philosophy.
- Work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Participate in weekly supervision with the Lead Care Coordinator.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 21 years of age.
- Pass a background check.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Understanding of cultural values and norms.
- Knowledge of culturally specific resources in the local community and state.
- Sensitivity to barriers children face in accessing resources or services.
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse coworkers and clients (race, ethnicity, religion, culture, immigration status, abilities, generation, gender identity, sexual orientation).
- Ability to promote trust, collaboration, and partnerships with diverse staff and leadership.
- Solution-focused and respectful in all interactions.
- Consistently demonstrate sound ethics and judgment.
- Knowledge of current office technology and ability to learn new systems.
- Ability to organize, oversee, and complete multiple projects with limited supervision.
- Attention to detail and deadlines; responsive and reliable.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in electronic documentation.
