Summary Description

The Middle School team leader coordinates and manages the operations of a grade level team. Responsibilities include facilitating, collaborating with all stakeholders, analyzing achievement data, promoting student and parent engagement, and participating on the Leadership Team.

Required to attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

• Knowledge of grade level curriculum, assessment and instruction.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
• Understanding of the middle school child.
• Ability to work well with students, teachers, and administrators.
• Strong skills in data collection and analysis of formative and summative data sources.
• Strong technology skills.
• Knowledge of and understanding of master schedule.
• Knowledge of Baldrige tools and practices.
• Outstanding facilitation, organizational and management skills.
• Excellent oral, written communication, facilitation and collaboration skills.
• This position requires the knowledge and application of the six performance standards that have been established for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS).

Education, Training, Experience

• Holds, from an accredited institution, a master's degree or its equivalent in semester hours of credit or is within one year of fulfilling this requirement.
• Has had a minimum of three years of outstanding teaching experience, one year of MCPS teaching experience preferred.
• Experience teaching in middle school.
• Demonstrates excellent skills in working effectively with people.

Certification/License

MCCS meets the appropriate Maryland State Department of Education certification requirements for a middle school assignment.
