About the Role

Under the direction of the school principal, this position plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students in special programs (medical careers, global ecology, magnet, middle years IB, etc.). The role fosters an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students to ensure success for every student. Responsibilities include supervising students in various school-related settings, monitoring and evaluating student outcomes, and interacting with students, parents, staff, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
• Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community.
• Attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
• Meets Maryland state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
• Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, MCPS policies, and effective instructional practices.
• Understanding of the teaching/learning process.
• Ability to provide instruction reflecting multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
• Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and the community.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

Pay

The wage range for this position is a salary between $64,591 and $131,472, based on education and experience.
