About the Role

Under the direction of the school principal, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. Creates an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervises students in various school-related settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, and communicates with students, parents, staff, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
• Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA contract.
• Infuse technology into the curriculum.

Subjects & Courses

• U.S. History
• Modern World History (possible AP course)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education or an applicable field from an accredited college or university.
• Meets Maryland state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
• Foundation office programs requirements: Secondary school diploma with at least five years of full-time industry experience in the discipline to be taught within the last 10 years, or a bachelor’s degree in education with demonstrated industry experience.
• Industry licensures and/or industry certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, MCPS policies, and effective instructional practices.
• Understanding of the teaching/learning process.
• Ability to provide instruction reflecting multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and the community.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

Pay

Salary range between $66,690 and $135,745 based on education and experience.
