About the Role
The Students with Limited/Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) Coach will provide professional learning and instructional coaching to build the capacity of general education and English Language Development staff. The role supports school-based staff to promote effective instructional practices, bridging language and content to increase student achievement. The SLIFE Coach will engage in co-planning, modeling, and observation and feedback cycles with educators across school buildings and collaborate with EML Therapeutic Counselors to address students' social-emotional needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional learning and instructional coaching to general education and English Language Development staff.
- Support school-based staff in implementing effective instructional practices for SLIFE students.
- Engage in co-planning, modeling, and observation and feedback cycles with educators.
- Collaborate with EML Therapeutic Counselors to address students' social-emotional needs.
- Analyze student performance data to inform instructional strategies.
- Develop and support curriculum implementation and culturally relevant teaching practices.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalency with coursework in English Language Development, content area specialization, assessment/evaluation, administration and supervision, professional development, or accelerated and enriched instruction.
- Five or more years of successful experience as a classroom teacher and/or ELD teacher.
- Experience analyzing student performance data and providing effective English language development instruction.
- Experience with the WIDA English Language Development Framework and Science of Reading methods.
- Ability to collaborate with staff and school-based administrators to formulate instructional strategies.
- Experience serving as a team lead or instructional coach (preferred).
- Experience teaching English Language Development using the 2020 WIDA Framework, Common Core State Standards (Math K-6), and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) (preferred).
- Fluency in another language in addition to English (preferred).
- Travel between school buildings required.
Skills
- Considerable knowledge of English Language Development methods and instructional strategies.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
- Ability to support students in adjusting to the academic and cultural environment.
Pay
Salary range: $66,690 to $135,745 based on education and experience.
