FY27: Lunch Hour Aide, 2hrs/10mos, Somerset ES (ad closes 8/20/26)

Under general supervision, monitors student activities and behavior on the playground and during student lunch periods. Monitors class during testing or brief absence of teacher; may assist teachers in classroom activities, and perform general clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and supervise students during recess, lunch periods, and other activities.
• Enforce safety rules, behavior standards, and playground/cafeteria procedures.
• Monitor classes during testing or brief teacher absences.
• Assist teachers with classroom activities and perform general clerical tasks.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and others.

Requirements

• High School or GED diploma required.
• Experience working with children of elementary school age.
• Ability to patrol for extended periods in all weather conditions.
• Knowledge of games appropriate for recess and student behavior management techniques.
• Patience and strong human relations skills.
• Knowledge of and ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
• First aid and CPR certificate desirable.

Skills

• Knowledge of school regulations, practices, and procedures.
• Some knowledge of child development.
• Ability to supervise playground and recreational activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay

The wage range for this position is between $21.03 and $27.17 per hour, based on years of service.
