Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) policies and procedures, the MCPS elementary school curriculum, and state and federal regulations and laws.
- Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, organizational patterns, school operations, and pupil services.
- Ability to motivate, encourage, and work with staff to ensure outstanding performance as well as good morale.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent human relations skills.
Education, Training, Experience
- Masters degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in supervision, educational administration, elementary school curriculum, or a closely related field.
- Five years of successful teaching experience; at least one of those years must be in MCPS.
- Three years of school-based leadership experience, assistant school administrator, or central services administrator/central services instructional specialist; resume must provide evidence.
- Successful completion of Observation and Analysis of Teaching I preferred.
- Successful completion of Observation and Analysis of Teaching II either prior to or during the first year of assignment.
Certificates, Licenses
- Maryland certification requirements for Administrator I or elementary or special education principal and supervisor.
