About the role
The STEM Education Workshop Leader should have a passion for science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics, as well as a passion for deepening their desire to learn more about social justice and child development. This position is a great opportunity to explore the field of STEM education in a fun and creative way. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, organized, able to work independently, and loves to have fun with kids.
The main task for the STEM Education Workshop Leader will be to prepare a weekly lesson plan and teach a weekly workshop for K-8th grade students.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a weekly lesson plan
- Teach a weekly workshop for K-8th grade students
- Work collaboratively in a highly interactive environment
- Set a consistent weekly schedule with the Outreach Director, Miriam De La Torre
Requirements
- Good oral and written communication skills
- General clerical and organizational skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Access to a personal computer to complete work-study assignments (preferred)
- Own transportation to and from Pomona Hope
Pay
$17.00 per hour
Schedule
- 1 consistent weekday afternoon, Monday – Thursday, 2:45pm - 5:45pm
- Besides the Wednesday afternoon workshop time, all other hours are flexible
