About the role

Effective for the 2026–27 school year. Position status: Probationary.

Certification

  • Appropriate New York State certification as a School District Leader
  • Current New York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School Administration and Supervisor (SAS) certification

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of successful and effective full-time teaching or school-based instructional experience
  • Three or more years of school-based or district administrative and supervisory experience, or equivalent experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Establish and enforce rigorous standards for scholar achievement aligned with New York State and School District policies, with specific attention to Policy 8110 (Curriculum Development, Resources and Evaluation)
  • Provide strong instructional leadership in STEM and experience in closing gaps associated with historically underrepresented populations
  • Ensure the academic program meets or exceeds yearly scholar outcome goals as defined by ECSDM and measured by New York State accountability requirements
  • Maintain active involvement in the school improvement planning process with the Building Inquiry Team and the School Improvement Team by providing resources for decision-making and priority/goal setting
  • Lead teachers and collaborate with Department Chair Leaders to develop a healthy, positive school culture aligned with the school and district vision, mission, and values
  • Create a culture of academic excellence, teamwork, and collaboration among staff, teachers, scholars, and families
  • Foster a school climate that supports scholar and staff success and promotes respect and appreciation for all scholars, staff, and parents
  • Work with teachers to improve teaching practice and ensure all learning environments provide rigorous and active instructional programming
  • Remain current with successful instructional methodologies and practices
  • Provide high-quality curricular training and resources to staff (e.g., professional development opportunities)
  • Assist in communicating the district’s vision that supports the school’s goals and values
  • Direct the oversight, coordination, and assurance of the effectiveness of appropriate assigned parent/community/professional advisory committees (e.g., National Academy Advisory Committees, Project Lead the Way Advisory Committee)
  • Assist in creating an effective team of parents, staff, and community stakeholders committed to achieving excellence and jointly responsible for the attainment of school and district goals
