About the role

Effective for the 2026–27 school year, this is a probationary position leading STEM instruction at the elementary level.

Responsibilities

  • Set and enforce rigorous academic standards aligned with New York State policy and District Policy 8110.
  • Provide strong instructional leadership in STEM and close achievement gaps for historically underrepresented students.
  • Ensure the academic program meets or exceeds yearly scholar outcome goals as defined by ECSDM and measured by New York State accountability requirements.
  • Lead the school improvement planning process with the Building Inquiry Team and School Improvement Team, providing data-driven resources for priority and goal setting.
  • Collaborate with Department Chair Leaders to develop a positive school culture that reflects the district’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Foster a climate of academic excellence, teamwork, and collaboration among staff, teachers, scholars, and families.
  • Support teachers in improving instructional practice and ensure all learning environments deliver rigorous, active learning.
  • Stay current with successful instructional methodologies and practices.
  • Provide high-quality curricular training and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Communicate the district’s vision to support school goals and values.
  • Oversee and coordinate the effectiveness of assigned parent, community, and professional advisory committees (e.g., National Academy Advisory Committees, Project Lead the Way Advisory Committee).
  • Build an effective team of parents, staff, and community stakeholders committed to achieving school and district excellence.

Requirements

  • New York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS) certification.
  • Minimum of five years of successful, full-time teaching or school-based instructional experience.
  • Three or more years of school-based or district administrative and supervisory experience, or equivalent preferred.

Certification

Applicants must hold appropriate New York State certification as a School District Leader.

Salary

Pursuant to the Middletown School Administrators Association (MSAA) Contract.

Fingerprint Clearance

Candidates must submit to fingerprint clearance.
