About the role
The Civic and Community Engagement (CCE) Coordinator Internship is a role designed to support FUTURO, Inc., a nonprofit in Middle Tennessee. The role serves as a liaison between FUTURO, TIRRC, and the community, focusing on civic engagement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assist with communicating with students, employers, and the FUTURO community
- Research college student engagement best practices and produce reports
- Suggest more appropriate means of data collection
- Conduct research and develop tools and methods for collecting data
- Avoid availability for training in voter registration, civic engagement, and other areas needed to complete the project
- Create graphic representations of data and translate research into easily readable content and reports for stakeholders
- Organize and coordinate the Civic Engagement/Voter Information workshop in the first week of September 2026 across campuses
- Facilitate training around being a poll worker
- Plan and work all in-person events FUTURO plans to host
- Must be available to work on specific days: Leadership Day, FUTURO Fall Leadership Conference, Last Day to Register to vote, and Election Day
Requirements
- Have a baseline knowledge about FUTURO and provide a perspective on improving methods and programming for the FUTURO community
- Currently working towards a degree or recent graduate of a university, college, or trade school, in a related field or graduate student
- This internship is open to all majors, with a preference for Political Science, Education, Psychology, Data Analytics, Marketing, Business Administration, Mathematics, Nonprofit Management, Fundraising, Event Planning, Latin American Studies, Sociology, and Operations Management
- Hybrid Work Schedule/Time Commitment: 4 hours per week, pay at $18/hr eligible for 1099 or W-2, Must be available to work in person for voter registration events
- Flexible schedule with regularly scheduled meeting times to be determined according to your school/work schedule before the set start date

- Growth mindset and interest in skill-building in civic and community engagement, research, higher education, data analytics, nonprofit operations, and communications, and supporting issues of equity and diversity
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team, and maintain relationships with community partners
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong written, verbal, listening, and communication skills
- Attention to detail and a strength in analysis, critical thinking, problem-solving, and a sound understanding of research methodologies
- Strong computer proficiency in Google Suite (Google Drive, Calendar, Sheets, Documents), Grammarly, and Canva
