Furnace Operator
About the role
Linde Advanced Material Technologies Inc. is seeking a Furnace Operator for a 3rd shift position (10:00pm - 06:30am) in Indianapolis, IN. Training on 1st shift will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and follow Product Manufacturing Instructions (PMIs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and production schedules to execute daily tasks safely and efficiently.
- Support and participate in safety initiatives and policies as needed.
- Follow step-by-step instructions from senior operators and balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrate strong batch chemistry math skills, including accurate calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and weight percentage conversions.
- Operate and maintain large-scale powder production equipment, including atomizers, spray dryers, power cabinets, blenders, screeners, forklifts, scissor lifts, cranes, and pallet jacks.
- Complete minor to moderate machine adjustments and maintenance repairs as needed.
- Work in a challenging environment that is typically temperature controlled but can be hot, dirty, dusty, and humid, while wearing a respirator, flame-resistant (FR) clothing, and appropriate safety gear.
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment in compliance with company procedures and safety standards.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Previous experience with induction melting or casting operations is preferred but not required.
- The ability to read, understand, and follow complex work instructions with accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
- Highly proficient in performing mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, across all units of measure.
- Experience operating plant equipment and industrial vehicles is required.
- Physically capable of performing tasks involving frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, hand and finger manipulation, as well as occasional stooping, crouching, climbing, and lifting up to 44 lbs.
- The ability to safely wear and work while using a full-face or half-face respirator is required.
- Strong computer proficiency is required, including demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Qualifications
- The ability to safely operate and maintain large-scale powder production equipment, including handling high-pressure gases, induction-powered furnaces, and high-vacuum equipment.
- Strong mechanical skillset to complete minor to moderate machine adjustments and maintenance repairs as needed.
Skills
- Strong proficiency in interpreting and following PMIs, JSAs, and production schedules.
- Ability to perform batch chemistry math calculations.
