Job Responsibilities
- Arranges calls to deceased next of kin and obtains or confirms contact information.
- Schedules Arrangement appointments and emails confirmations.
- Performs removals or transfers of the deceased in accordance with company standards and processes.
- Greets next of kin and escorts them to the meeting space.
- Facilitates Arrangement Conferences, discussing needs and desired outcomes.
- Promotes funeral, cemetery, and crematory services and merchandise.
- Transitions Arrangement Conferences to Funeral Services Counselor/Advisor roles.
- Directs Services, presiding as Master of Ceremonies (MC) for visitation, funeral, or graveside services.
- Visually inspects Services Arrangements against contractual arrangements and next of kin expectations.
- Interacts with the family to fulfill death care requests and obtain leads for pre-need services.
- Planner event planning responsibilities, including resource planning and ordering of music, flowers, or catering.
- Prepares event rooms, sets up chairs, tables, flowers, guest books, and decor.
- Cleans event spaces post-event, identifies property in need of repair, and delivers family memorabilia.
- Attends community or charity events to represent and promote the location or market.
- Embalsms the deceased following company processes and procedures.
- Cleans and embalms bodies, replacing bodily fluids with embalming fluids, performing restorations, styling hair, applying cosmetics, and dressing the body.
- Dresses caskets and lays the deceased, updating status in proprietary software.
- Maintains preparation room, cleans soiled equipment, properly disposes of hazardous waste, and promotes a safe work environment.
- Inventories and reorders supplies.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science.
- Current Funeral Director and Embalmer dual license within the practicing state.
- Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
