Job Responsibilities
- Takes first calls, talks with families, answers questions, provides initial details, and conducts transfers.
- Safeguards and prepares the deceased for funeral services, including verification of identity, obtaining authorization, embalming, dressing, styling hair, and applying cosmetics.
- Conducts funeral and memorial ceremonies professionally and according to company policies and procedures.
- Negotiates and manages funeral contracts, handles financial transactions, and ensures clients receive special recognition for veterans.
- Aids in the organization of funeral services, assists with transportation, and provides support during various events.
- Maintains compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements, and provides aftercare services.
- Shares referrals with Family Service Counselors and prepares accurate documentation.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of or enrollment in a dual degree training program in funeral and mortuary science as required by state/province law.
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a funeral home, crematory, or cemetery.
- Current state/province issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
