Funeral Director

Job Responsibilities

• Arranges calls to deceased next of kin and confirms details.
• Schedules Arrangement appointments and emails confirmations.
• Performs removals or transfers as needed, adhering to company standards.
• Greets next of kin and escorts them to meeting spaces.
• Facilitates Arrangements Conferences, discussing needs and desired outcomes.
• Promotes funeral, cemetery, and crematory services and merchandise.
• Transitions Arrangements Conferences to Funeral Services Counseling if necessary.
• Presides over visitation, funeral, and graveside services.
• Visually inspects deceased and adjusts casket dressing or communicates concerns.
• Ensures compliance with contractual arrangements and family expectations.
• Planners events, including resource planning and ordering of music, flowers, or catering.
• Prepares event rooms, sets up decor, and cleans up after events.
• May perform attendant duties such as parking lot attendant, driver, usher, pallbearer, or courier.
• Attends community or charity events to represent the location or market.

Requirements

• Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science.
• Current Funeral Director license within the practicing state.
• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Industry experience is preferred.

• Proficient in databases and MS Office applications.
• Physical effort requiring manual dexterity, including paperwork, calculators, computers, and phone usage.
• Ability to push and pull up to 150 pounds on flat and inclined flooring or ramps.

Work Conditions

• Indoors and outdoors during all seasons and weather.
• Professional business attire required when in contact with families.
• Frequent continuous periods of sitting or standing up to 6 hours per day.
• Frequent climbing stairs to access buildings.
