About the role

The Funeral Director serves families by guiding them through the process of making informed decisions when arranging a loved one’s funeral with care and compassion. You will be the primary point of contact for families, parish staff, vendors, and CFCS staff for funeral services. Responsibilities include communicating, coordinating, and following through on all aspects of the funeral service case.

Responsibilities

Guide families through funeral arrangements with compassion and professionalism.
Serve as the primary point of contact for families, parish staff, vendors, and CFCS staff.
Coordinate and manage all aspects of funeral service cases.

Requirements

Willingness to work at both St. Joseph Cemetery (San Pablo, CA) and St. Mary Cemetery (Oakland, CA).
Event planning experience or a Funeral Director license.
Associate’s Degree or 60 credit hours toward an Associate’s Degree.
Valid Driver’s License.
Interest in obtaining a funeral license (a plus).
Interest in working in a Catholic environment (all backgrounds welcome).
Passion for working with people and coordinating with internal departments and external stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift or move objects weighing between 75-100 lbs.
Ability to push and pull up to 300 lbs. with a wheeled cart.
Ability to stand for long periods on a hard surface.

Pay

Funeral Director: $28 - $33/hour (DOE).
Event Planner: $28 - $30/hour (DOE).
