Job Responsibilities

  • Arranges calls to deceased next of kin and confirms contact information.
  • Schedules Arrangement appointments and emails confirmations.
  • Performs removals or transfers as needed, adhering to company standards.
  • Greets next of kin and escorts them to meeting spaces.
  • Facilitates Arrangements Conferences, discussing needs and desired outcomes.
  • Promotes funeral, cemetery, and crematory services and merchandise.
  • Transitions Arrangements Conferences to Funeral Services Counselor/Advisor roles.
  • Directs Services, presiding over visitation, funeral, or graveside services.
  • Visually inspects deceased and adjusts casket dressing or communicates concerns.
  • Ensures compliance with contractual arrangements and family expectations.
  • Performs event planning responsibilities, including resource planning and ordering.
  • Prepares event rooms and cleans up after events.
  • May perform attendant duties such as parking lot attendant, driver, usher, pallbearer, or courier.
  • May attend community or charity events to represent the location or market.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science.
  • Current Funeral Director license within the practicing state.
  • Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Industry experience is preferred.

  • Physical Demands: Manual dexterity required for paperwork, calculators, computers, and phones.

Work Conditions:

  • Environment: Both indoors and outdoors during all seasons and weather.
  • Attire: Professional business attire required when in contact with families.
  • Postures: Frequent continuous periods of sitting or standing up to 6 hours per day; frequent climbing stairs.
  • Physical Demands: Requires manual dexterity for paperwork, calculators, computers, and phones.

Hours: Flexibility of availability may be necessary due to services occurring outside of normal business hours and working nights and weekends frequently.
