About the role
B Capital is seeking a Finance Manager to take on additional responsibilities as the position progresses. This role offers a broad range of experience within a growing venture capital firm, embracing technology and AI as tools for professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Key member of lean internal finance team overseeing multiple funds across various sectors, geographies, and strategies
- Collaborate with internal and external accounting teams for timely and accurate financial reporting
- Leverage AI tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT) for productivity improvements, including drafting LP communications, summarizing financial data, automating repetitive tasks, and accelerating research
- Identify and implement AI-assisted workflow optimizations across the team
- Reconcile and manage various funds, special purpose vehicles (SPVs), and holding company (Holdco) entities
- Liaise with fund administrators for investments, capital calls, distributions, management fee calculations, and quarterly financial statement reporting
- Manage the quarterly valuation process across multiple entities
- Maintain line of credit, including managing borrowings, paydowns, interest accruals, and compliance requirements
- Support global portfolio reporting, collaborating with internal investment and platform teams, external portfolio companies, and overseeing a global portfolio reporting tech platform
- Develop and implement internal financial controls
- Assist with new fund launches, including onboarding service providers, opening bank accounts, and coordinating with internal and external legal counsel on entity formation and fund documents
- Support annual audit and tax processes
- Respond to quarterly and ad-hoc investor information requests and coordinate with other business units (investor relations, investment team, business development, etc.) as necessary to complete requests
- Assist with additional ad hoc projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of experience in fund accounting and/or overseeing a fund administrator, coupled with 1-2 years of audit experience in public accounting
- Experience working within asset management, ideally in Venture Capital or Private Equity
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated curiosity and comfort with AI productivity tools; experience using LLMs or AI assistants to accelerate financial analysis, reporting, or communication is a plus
- Growth mindset toward emerging technology—willingness to experiment with new tools, share learnings with the team, and continuously evolve how work gets done
- Modeling & quantitative analysis experience (Excel) a plus
- Exposure working with US GAAP and ASC 820 Valuations
- CPA or CFA a plus
Benefits
This role can be based in either Los Angeles or San Francisco, offering a hybrid work arrangement in the Los Angeles office or onsite four days per week in the San Francisco office. The base salary range is $100,000 - $140,000 and will commensurate according to relevant experiences. Salary range applies to California candidates only. The actual salary may subject to change.
