Functional Analyst I

About the Role

The Functional Analyst provides mission-focused functional management and analytical support for the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) Transportation Visualizer (TransViz) capability, supporting global force movement planning and transportation analysis across the Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise. TransViz enables planners to access and visualize transportation requirements and operational data in real time to evaluate courses of action, identify anomalies, and support decision-making for global mobility operations.

The Functional Analyst supports USTRANSCOM personnel and transportation component commands by analyzing operational requirements, assisting users with TransViz application functionality, and ensuring system capabilities align with mission needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide functional application support, assist with data retrieval, reporting, and dashboard configuration.
• Identify system or data anomalies impacting command operations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to recommend system enhancements and track issue resolution with development teams.
• Support configuration management and system updates.
• Support system lifecycle activities including functional testing of new applications and software upgrades, development of test plans and reports.
• Participate in working groups, meetings, and demonstrations that improve system performance and operational effectiveness.
• Assist with development of documentation such as concept of operations (CONOPS), standard operating procedures (SOPs), user guides, and training materials as software capabilities evolve.
• Support user account administration and facilitate collaboration across operational planning communities.
• Deliver training or demonstrations to ensure effective utilization of TransViz capabilities.

Requirements

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate operational transportation requirements into system functionality.
• Familiarity with DoD planning and deployment systems supporting global mobility operations.
• Experience supporting DoD logistics or transportation systems.
• Strong requirements analysis and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to communicate complex operational concepts to both technical teams and mission users in a fast-paced operational environment.
