Fullstack Engineer (Backend Focused)

About the role

We’re a well-funded early-stage technology startup building infrastructure for the next generation of AI-powered software. As a Fullstack Engineer, you’ll develop the systems and infrastructure behind the platform, tackling backend challenges like scalable services, APIs, and AI-driven application support. The role offers significant ownership and the chance to shape technical direction from the ground up. This is a full-time, on-site position in San Francisco, CA.

Responsibilities

• Own full features end-to-end and collaborate with founders to scope problem spaces.
• Design and implement scalable APIs using TypeScript and modern web frameworks (Hono/Node.js).
• Architect and optimize PostgreSQL databases, writing performant queries and managing complex schema evolution.
• Implement real-time ML inference pipelines and recommendation systems.
• Build containerized infrastructure for secure and isolated AI agent execution environments.
• Flex across the full stack to support customers and ship fast.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience as a full-stack engineer at an early-stage startup (Seed–Series C).
• 2+ years of full-time experience, with at least 1 year in backend roles.
• Deep proficiency with JavaScript, Node.js, and Python.
• Relentless focus on user success with exceptional quality standards.
• Builder or owner mentality.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice-to-have skills

• Experience with ML infrastructure, model serving, and real-time inference.
• Founder or founding engineer experience.
• Experience with TypeScript and PostgreSQL.
