Full Time Utility Meter Reader

About the role

This position is responsible for reading water meters and recording volume used by residential and commercial consumers to ensure accurate consumption and billing. May perform visual meter inspection to assess the condition and overall operation of the meter and note any visible defects or issues.

Responsibilities

• Read water meters and record volume used by residential and commercial consumers
• Perform visual meter inspections to assess condition and operation, noting any defects or issues

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings: drug test, background check, and driving record
• Must be able to walk up to 10-15 miles per day while reading meters accurately
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted

Qualifications

• Successfully complete the company’s training program and pass applicable written and field tests
• Learn and apply safety measures relating to motor vehicle operation and other field-related matters

Pay

Starting at $20/hour with potential to earn more through piece rate.

Schedule

• Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday
• Outdoor work environment
• Normal working hours are daylight hours; limited weekend work except for periodic on-call duty and mass workloads
• Little supervision, allowing you to work independently and manage your own day
