Full Time Utility Meter Reader

We are hiring Full‑Time Meter Readers in Ruidoso, NM. This role is ideal for independent workers who enjoy being outdoors. Work is expected to start at the end of September/beginning of October. All field staff receive safety gear (company boot allowance, vests, glasses, etc.), a company vehicle, and paid training.

Responsibilities

• Read electric utility meters and record volume used by residential and commercial consumers to ensure accurate consumption and billing.
• Perform visual meter inspections to assess condition, operation, and note any visible defects or issues.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license.
• Successful completion of pre‑employment screenings: drug test, background check, and driving record.
• Ability to walk up to 10‑15 miles per day while reading meters accurately.

Knowledge and Abilities

• Successfully complete the company’s training program and pass applicable written and field tests.
• Learn and apply safety measures related to motor vehicle operation and other field‑related matters.

Pay

Paid on a piece‑work basis, allowing earnings in excess of $20 +/hour.

Schedule

Monday‑Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm; limited weekend hours for periodic on‑call duty and mass workloads.
