Role Overview

A Stepdown RN provides specialized care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical-surgical or inpatient units, requiring frequent monitoring and interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitoring cardiac rhythms and vital signs
• Administering medications and treatments
• Supporting cardiac procedures and patient safety
• Documenting assessments and patient responses
• Providing patient education on cardiac health
• Following safety protocols and infection control standards
• Interpreting cardiac rhythms
• Assisting with cardiac procedures
• Collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure safe, patient-centered care
• Responding to cardiac emergencies
• Maintaining safety and confidentiality standards

Qualifications & Skills

• One year of recent Stepdown RN experience
• Valid RN license per state regulations
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Preferred: PCCN, NIHSS certifications
• Critical thinking, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Physical ability to move equipment and assist patients
• Ability to work under pressure, with attention to detail and effective teamwork
