Full-Time Temporary Generalist Teacher
Temporary Generalist Teacher position at Fairview High School, commencing August 27, 2026, and continuing to June 30, 2027. The initial assignment will be in a grade 7 - 9 setting.
About the School
Fairview High School offers complete programming for grades seven through twelve, covering both academic and non-academic courses with a large variety of electives. Junior high students are offered Industrial Arts, Home Economics, French, Art, and Computer programs. The school has partnered with Northwestern Polytechnic (NWP) - Fairview campus to provide senior high students access to a new fitness center for Phys. Ed and Sports Performance.
Fairview High School is located in the town of Fairview, 115 km north of Grande Prairie. Fairview is a friendly, vibrant town surrounded by natural beauty, including parks, lakes, hiking trails, and the Dunvegan Valley. Outdoor activities include golfing, fishing, camping, and winter sports.
Responsibilities
- Differentiate lessons to support students’ achievement.
- Employ strong classroom management skills.
- Utilize technology to support learning in the classroom.
- Collaborate with other teachers and educational assistants to ensure student success.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Apply a keen understanding of assessment practices.
Requirements
- Must hold or be eligible for a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
- Provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check, dated within six (6) months of application.
- Experience and/or training in teaching junior high level grades.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with other educators.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Understanding of assessment practices.
- Ability to use technology to support learning.
Pay
Annual salary range: $66,520 to $112,451, dependent on experience and education in accordance with the collective agreement between the Alberta Teachers’ Association and the Peace River School Division.
