Full-time Teacher of Special Education: Autistic Support

Purpose of Position

The teachers of exceptional students are responsible for planning and implementing an effective program of instruction based on students' Individual Education Programs (IEP's). Teachers report to their respective Program Supervisor.

Schedule

• Full-time
• 7.00 Hours/Day (8:15 am-3:45 pm), Monday-Friday
• 190 Days/Year

Minimum Annual Salary

$65,001.00

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Active PA Certification in Special Education required
• No experience required; several years of experience preferred

Essential Physical Requirements

• Strength and ability to lift and/or assist in lifting pupils of ages ranging from pre-school to twenty-one and their assistive appliances
• Ability to perform considerable amounts of bending, stooping, and squatting
• Ability to physically restrain students in emotional distress through use of one of the following approved methods:
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
  • Safe Crisis Management Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (SCM)
  • Quality Behavioral Solutions: Safety-Care Crisis Prevention (QBS)
• Physical Certification required in one of the above methods, as directed by program needs
