Full-time Short-term Substitute: Health Care Assistant

Schedule

Part-time, 7.5 hours per day (7:30 am–3:00 pm), Monday–Friday, 89 days per year.

Pay

Minimum hourly salary: $28.05.

About the role

Health Care Assistants (HCA) are responsible for meeting the medical needs of students enrolled in IU operated special education and alternative education classes/programs.

Requirements

• Education: High School diploma
• Certification: Licensed LPN, current CPR, AED, and First Aid
• Other qualifications:
  • Willingness to work as part of an educational team and to become familiar with the unique student needs, rights, and regulations governing special education placement.
  • Willingness to provide a safe environment for the students we serve and the ability to adapt to unexpected, changing situations.

Physical Requirements

• Strength and ability to assist in lifting and supporting students aged pre‑school to twenty‑one and their assistive appliances.
• Considerable bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, and squatting must be tolerated.
• Ability to assist in physical interventions (such as physical restraints) when necessary.
• Ability to maneuver students/adults into a safe position for administering First Aid or CPR.
