Full-Time Servicer

Department: Cortland Maintenance

Hourly rate: $17.05/hr

Hours of labor: 1:00pm–9:30pm (Monday–Friday)

About the role

Under general supervision, a cleaner/servicer is responsible for maintaining the scheduled cleaning and servicing of buses and the facility. Thorough cleaning of interior and exterior of buses is required, along with facility upkeep. The position also involves moving buses within the facility for exterior cleaning and servicing, as well as fueling buses.

Responsibilities

Bus cleaning

• Pick up loose debris from bus interior
• Sweep out the entire interior of bus
• Wipe off seats
• Dust before washing the interior
• Wash the windshield, the entire driver's area, all walls, windows, and seats
• Mop floors
• Remove any gum or writing from the bus interior
• Wash the interior ceiling of bus

Bus servicing

• Drive bus into fueling area and fuel approximately 20 vehicles
• Check fluids on buses: oil, transmission, and anti-freeze
• Add fluids if low: oil, transmission, and anti-freeze
• Bring bus to fare box vault area and empty fare box vault if applicable
• Ensure all windows are closed
• Bring bus through wash rack, slowly, or wash the outside of the bus
• Park bus in storage area

Facility cleaning

• Empty the trash in the offices, operations, and maintenance areas
• Vacuum/sweep and mop the floors in offices, operations, and maintenance areas
• Dust the offices, operations, and maintenance areas
• Clean the bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, and floors
• Refill toilet paper and paper towels
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must be able to take directions and be agile
• Must be able to read/write English and have basic mechanical knowledge
• Must have a valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Must be at least 18 years old and in good physical condition
• On occasion, may be required to clean bodily fluids/excrement on buses (with the exception of blood-borne pathogens)
• Prior to employment, must obtain a Class B permit; will be trained on the job to obtain a Class B License to move buses

Pay

$17.05 per hour
