Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Affords a safe and encouraging learning environment to meet students' needs, interests, and abilities.
- Displays professionalism, maintains confidentiality, accepts constructive feedback, and fosters an atmosphere conducive to student learning.
- Collaborates with teachers to enhance instruction, follow lesson plans, and work with individual students or small groups.
- Maintains assessment practices by monitoring independent work, collecting academic/behavioral data, and keeping accurate records of student progress.
- Supports classroom organization by performing clerical duties, assisting in material preparation, and maintaining an organized workspace.
- Behaves as an effective team member through problem-solving, flexibility, and cooperation.
- Exhibits strong oral and written communication skills.
- Pursues continuous self-improvement through professional development activities.
- Enforces school board and school-based policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Director of Educational Resources/Executive Director of Teaching and Learning.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma and passing ParaPro scores or a minimum of 60 college credits.
- State of Delaware Paraeducator Permit required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, administrators, and parents.
- Experience working with students of varying abilities.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills.
- Criminal background check and Tuberculin testing required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent bending, walking, running, and lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
- May need to assist with moving wheelchairs, toileting, feeding, and other daily living activities.
- Physically assist students in activities such as walking or eating, kneeling on the floor, and walking for long periods.
- Assist with physically aggressive behaviors.
Pre-employment Requirements
- Submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
- Provide proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver's License).
- Document eligibility for employment in the U.S.A.
- Complete I-9 form.
- Complete paperwork for the Delaware Child Protection Registry.
