About the role
The Paramedic is a frontline healthcare professional responsible for delivering emergency medical care in pre-hospital settings. They respond to dispatch calls, assess patient conditions, administer advanced life support (ALS), and safely transport patients to medical facilities.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency calls, evaluate patient conditions, and determine appropriate interventions.
- Provide ALS procedures such as airway management, IV therapy, defibrillation, and medication administration.
- Transport patients safely while monitoring their condition and providing ongoing care.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, emergency personnel, and healthcare teams.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatments, and responses.
- Ensure emergency vehicles and equipment are sterile and ready for use.
- Educate and reassure patients and families during crises, adhering to legal and safety protocols.
- Interpret medical instructions, perform patient lifting/movement in challenging environments, and participate in ongoing training to stay current with protocols.
Qualifications
- Current NYS Licensed Paramedic certification.
- Valid Driver’s license.
- CPR/BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA credentials required within 3 months if not owned).
- Ability to work in hazardous environments, lift heavy objects, and remain calm under stress.
Preferred Experience
Three years’ experience in 911 and inter-facility transport, including critical care transports.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform heavy physical work, including lifting up to 250 lbs, walking, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and working in extreme conditions.
