Full-Time Night Custodian - 3:30pm-11:30pm
About the role
The Custodian position under the direction of the Chief Custodian provides a safe, healthy, and clean building environment. Key responsibilities include cleaning, performing minor and preventative maintenance, removing snow and doing grounds work. This is a 12-month position.
Responsibilities
- sweeping;
- dry or wet mopping;
- waxing;
- buffing;
- vacuuming;
- cleaning walls and ceilings, windows, furniture, lights, bathrooms;
- shampooing carpets;
- moving furniture and other supplies;
- cleaning outside grounds;
- helping to load and unload trucks;
- shoveling and removal of snow and ice;
- cutting grass and trimming;
- opening and closing the building;
- securing the alarm system.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED - preferred;
- Valid Class D Driver's License with good driving record;
- Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, equipment and procedures;
- Ability to perform minor maintenance;
- Able to follow oral or written directions;
- Able to work cooperatively with teachers, students, administrators, co-workers and the public;
- Good physical health and strength to perform the routine duties of lifting and cleaning.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
- Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Ability to perform work requiring sustained moderate physical effort, operation of commercial food service equipment, movement of objects weighing 40-50 pounds and continuous standing.
Pre-employment Requirements
- Submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
- Provide proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver's License).
- Document eligibility for employment in the U.S.A.
- Complete I-9 form.
- Complete paperwork for the Delaware Child Protection Registry.
