About the role

A bit about us: We are an easygoing, low-key family in Seattle consisting of Mom, Dad, and our energetic 1-year-old daughter. We're seeking a full-time nanny to care for our curious toddler in our home while we work. Mom may occasionally work from home, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable partnering in an environment where a parent is present from time to time. Our daughter loves exploring the world around her, reading books, listening to music, spending time outdoors, and discovering new things each day. We value a warm, patient caregiver who enjoys encouraging independence, fostering confidence, and supporting this exciting stage of learning and development in a loving, safe environment.

Job Duties

  • Planning engaging, developmentally appropriate activities
  • Reading books, singing songs, and encouraging language development
  • Spending plenty of time outdoors exploring parks and the neighborhood
  • Preparing and serving healthy toddler meals and snacks
  • Supporting daily routines including naps, diaper changes, and transitions
  • Encouraging independence with age-appropriate self-help skills
  • Maintaining a safe, nurturing environment
  • Fostering curiosity, confidence, and social-emotional growth through positive guidance and play
  • Light child-related household tasks including tidying play areas, cleaning up after meals and activities, managing the child's laundry as needed, and occasional light vacuuming

Qualifications

  • Multiple years of experience with toddlers and early childhood
  • Physically able to carry a toddler and navigate a multi-story home
  • Up to date on baby related vaccinations (Tdap, Flu, Covid, etc.)
  • Strong, proficient English skills to support language development
  • Comfortable with a parent working from home during the initial months
  • Glowing references from recent nanny positions

  • Experience supporting toddler development through play-based learning and positive guidance
  • A genuine love of music, reading, sensory activities, and outdoor adventures
  • An understanding of toddler milestones and strategies for encouraging communication, independence, and emotional regulation
  • A calm, engaging presence with the ability to build a strong, trusting relationship with both child and family

Working Conditions and Requirements

  • Work environment will be active, kid-centric and includes clean up of activities
  • Part of each day may be spent outside, weather permitting, and will be active play
  • Essential Physical Requirements:
    • Position involves regular lifting, bending, squatting, reaching and pushing
    • Must be able to lift 35 pounds safely
    • Must be able to get up from and down to the floor numerous times throughout the day
    • Will need to be able to react quickly to certain situations
    • May need to react to emergent situations in a calm, effective and safe manner
