Full-Time Nanny for School-Age Child (40 hrs per week) Placement
A bit about us
A warm, welcoming family in Redmond is seeking a dependable, patient nanny to become an important part of their family's routine. They have two hybrid work-from-home parents and a school-age child who thrives with consistency, understanding, and engaging one-on-one support. Family is important to them, and grandma visits in the mornings before school, while cousins occasionally visit.
A bit about you
The ideal nanny is exceptionally patient, attentive, and enjoys building genuine connections with older children. Someone who naturally enjoys math, science, coding, reading, or gaming would be a wonderful fit, as their child loves thoughtful conversations and intellectually engaging activities. Experience supporting children with autism spectrum disorder is highly valued, particularly with school-age or teen children, though a calm, compassionate, and flexible personality is equally important. You are an excellent listener who understands when to offer encouragement, when to provide space, and how to create a supportive, respectful relationship built on trust.
Job Duties
- Provide attentive care and companionship, including school drop-off and pick-up, transportation to activities as needed, and engaging in the child’s favorite interests such as reading, board games, coding, and other indoor activities.
- During downtime, provide supervision, encouragement, and meaningful interaction while maintaining a calm and supportive environment.
- Household responsibilities are intentionally minimal and should never take priority over childcare, though light tidying or helping with small tasks is appreciated if time allows.
- Meals involve heating pre-prepared food, as all meal planning and cooking are handled by the parents.
Qualifications
- Previous professional nanny or childcare experience with school-age children.
- Experience supporting children with autism spectrum disorder or other special needs is strongly preferred.
- Patient, compassionate, and attentive caregiving style.
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record and reliable personal vehicle for school transportation.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Able to build strong, trusting relationships while respecting a child's individual needs and independence.
- Glowing references from recent nanny positions.
Set yourself apart
- Background in education, STEM, mathematics, science, or a related academic field.
- Enjoys coding, gaming, board games, or reading.
- Experience working with older children or teenagers.
- Understanding of neurodiversity and a child-led, patient approach to caregiving.
- Able to engage in meaningful conversations around academics and shared interests.
