Riverstone of Mankato Senior Living community is seeking a full-time Maintenance Assistant to join their building operations team. This role plays an integral part in maintaining the community and ensuring a high standard of living for residents.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the physical aspects of apartments meet company standards and make repairs as directed.
  • Assist with timely apartment-ready turns, including repairs, painting, cleaning, and other miscellaneous tasks.
  • Complete maintenance service requests, document their status, and ensure appropriate follow-through.
  • Assist with maintenance-related repairs (e.g., appliances, fixtures, plumbing, faucets, toilets, broken glass, tile, carpet, screens, garbage disposals, blinds, locks).
  • Repair or assist with concrete steps, patios, fencing, and signage.
  • Maintain grounds and communal areas, including lighting, snow removal, and trash removal.
  • Perform snow and ice removal (snow blowing, shoveling, salting, and ice pick removal).
  • Manage maintenance materials and equipment with care.
  • Attend and participate in required training seminars.
  • Maintain shop and storage areas in a neat, orderly, and functional condition.
  • Interact positively with residents to ensure high satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the cleanliness and curb appeal of the community.
  • Comply with HUD and Fair Housing regulations, OSHA standards, and company safety policies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One or more years of prior experience in general maintenance or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with personnel, residents, families, visitors, and government agencies.
  • Capability to work with elderly, disabled, or emotionally upset individuals.
  • Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for the position.
  • Ability to attend and pass company-paid certification courses (e.g., pool operators, boilers license, EPA certification).

Skills

  • General computer literacy.
  • Proficiency in operating machinery, equipment, and hand tools.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and twist as needed.
  • Capability to assist in resident evacuations during emergencies.

Working Conditions

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking on the property.
  • Exposure to variable temperatures, noise, dust, cleaning products, and typical workplace hazards.
  • Potential exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.
  • On-call availability and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and rotational holidays.

Pay

$26–$29 per hour.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. Must be flexible to work rotational holidays and on-call coverage after hours and on weekends.
