About the role
The Cornell University Department of Information Science (IS) in the Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science (Bowers CIS) invites applications for full-time, long-term Lecturer or Senior Lecturer positions. Cornell University is located in Ithaca, New York, with a county population of about 100,000 people in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. Responsibilities
- Contribute to a mix of undergraduate and masters courses in one or more of the wide range of topics covered by IS.
- Develop and teach new courses as well as existing courses.
- Teach courses ranging from smaller (40-50 students) to larger (300+ students) audiences.
- Participate in departmental life, including curriculum design, voting rights, and participation in wider faculty governance and decision-making.
Requirements
- Hold a PhD or equivalent degree by August 2025.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence.

Schedule
A typical full-time (100%) load for a Lecturer in IS is two courses per semester. The initial appointment will be either a three-year (Lecturer) or five-year (Senior Lecturer) appointment. This is a non-tenure track position, but it is a professional teaching career track with the potential for growth, the expectation of renewal, and eventual promotion for Lecturers.
