About the role

The Aerospace Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking a full-time lecturer for a two-year appointment starting in AY 26/27 and potentially extending to AY 28/29 contingent on budget, department need, and satisfactory evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Teach core and elective aerospace engineering courses in the following disciplines: Propulsion, orbital mechanics, space environment, attitude determination and control, telecommunications, and space structures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or related major.
  • Evidence of (or potential for) excellence in teaching.
  • Experience working with broad populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Relevant work experience.
  • Professional capabilities.

Special Conditions

  • The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
  • Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
