About the role

The Electromechanical Systems Technology Instructor at Sandhills Community College is responsible for teaching courses in electromechanical systems and computer hardware systems, supporting program development, and engaging with local industry partners.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned curriculum courses in electromechanical systems, including machine processes, electrical systems, equipment maintenance and controls, PLCs, and integrated system troubleshooting.
  • Teach courses in computer hardware systems, including installation, repair, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Electromechanical Systems pathway within the Computer Engineering Technology program.
  • Assist with curriculum development, revision, and alignment with workforce needs.
  • Aid in the development and maintenance of laboratory environments, including equipment selection, setup, and safety compliance.
  • Support student recruitment, retention, and completion initiatives.
  • Collaborate with local industry partners to ensure program alignment with workforce needs.
  • Afford work-based learning opportunities, internships, and employer partnerships.
  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies in electromechanical systems, automation, and industrial maintenance.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Electromechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Systems, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial, manufacturing, or maintenance environments.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical systems, and basic automation processes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively teach and engage a diverse student population.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Master's degree in Electromechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), automation systems, and industrial troubleshooting.
  • Teaching or training experience in a community college, technical school, or industry setting.
  • Experience with laboratory development, equipment integration, and safety compliance.
  • Industry-recognized certifications related to electromechanical systems, electrical maintenance, automation, or manufacturing.

Skills

Effective teaching and engagement skills, strong communication and organizational abilities, and familiarity with relevant technologies and industry standards are essential.
