Full-Time Foundry Metallurgist

About the role

The Foundry Metallurgist collaborates with Engineering, Sales, and Operations to ensure the production of high-quality, on-time castings delivered safely.

Responsibilities

  • Specify materials and heat treatment procedures for customer quotes and new orders.
  • Revise material change documents and maintain raw material specifications.
  • Assist with melt analysis and review daily chemistry results.
  • Ensure conformance to customer and regulatory standards.
  • Analyze returned parts to identify metallurgical causes of performance issues.
  • Advise customers on alloy properties such as strength, corrosion resistance, machinability, and weldability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, cost reduction efforts, and supplier qualification processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to learning.

The role reports to the Engineering Manager and contributes to quality assurance, customer satisfaction, and alloy development efforts.
