Metallurgy Engineer (Foundry/Casting)

About the role

The role is located in the Peoria, Illinois area and involves supporting the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of metallurgical processes within a metals production environment, with a strong focus on iron castings and foundry operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide ownership and continuous improvement of metallurgical processes
• Conduct data extraction and analysis
• Perform failure investigations and root cause problem solving
• Utilize simulation tools to support manufacturing improvements
• Test products, analyze laboratory and production data
• Implement process modifications to ensure compliance with quality and performance requirements
• Build, test, and refine metallurgical processes in both foundry and laboratory environments
• Partner closely with production, quality, and operations teams to improve product performance, reduce defects, and drive overall process efficiency

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• At least three years of professional experience in manufacturing, materials, or process engineering
• Experience in iron, steel, casting, foundry, or metallurgical operations is preferred
• Broad materials engineering background is also considered
