Robotics and Digital Solutions (RDS) Division of The Hillman Group is seeking a Field Service Technician in the Houston, TX area. This role focuses on servicing key duplicating (Minute Key), tag engraving (Quick Tag) kiosks, and third-party machines (Eco-ATM, Pokémon). The territory includes 70+ kiosks with a 40-hour workweek.

Pay

Hourly rate ranging from $21 to $23 based on experience. Includes car allowance, cell-phone reimbursement, and a corporate gas card for business miles.

Responsibilities

  • Restock and perform routine service on kiosks as needed (based on demand or schedule).
  • Perform on-call repairs or adjustments when machines go out of order.
  • Install new kiosks or swap older machines in the local area.
  • Monitor machines daily for issues and resolve connectivity or power problems with stores.
  • Track inventory for restocking machines.
  • Grow revenue by optimizing machine locations, uptime, product mix, and store relationships.
  • Participate in safety and health programs, including reporting hazards and wearing required PPE.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Background in electromechanical repair and maintenance (preferred).
  • Prior experience in retail merchandising, field operations, or customer service (preferred).
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role (preferred).
  • Experience with tools and troubleshooting mechanical problems.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English, including technical terminology.
  • Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record (clean record mandatory).
  • Reliable transportation with automobile insurance (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Reliable cell phone (reimbursed).

Skills

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Professional representation of Hillman at all times.
  • Ability to work weekends when required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Varies by location/store setup; may involve cramped quarters, dust, fumes, or odors.
  • Daily travel required, potentially up to 200 miles per day.
  • Hand/eye coordination and functional vision/hearing required.
  • Medium physical demand: lifting up to 30 lbs., occasionally pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs.
