About the Role

Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center is seeking outstanding applicants for several tenure/tenure-track full-time faculty appointments starting in August 2027. The law school welcomes applications from candidates interested in teaching in the following areas: Business Organizations, Torts, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, First Amendment, and Health Law.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate a commitment to teaching in an environment dedicated to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, with a preference for both practice and teaching experience. Applicants must also show a commitment to service in legal education and the wider community, as well as engagement in the intellectual life of the Law Center.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach graduate-level law student courses in a physical classroom and/or a virtual classroom as assigned and scheduled by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, assessments, final examinations, assignments, and handouts.
  • Timely grade student assessments, exams, and assignments, and provide meaningful feedback to students.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
  • Meet regularly with assigned student advisees.
  • Maintain accurate student records.
  • Maintain a regular physical presence at the Law Center campus.
  • Stay current in and continually improve teaching skills and expertise in the subjects taught.
  • Stay informed of changes in the law, including recent statutory changes and case law developments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
  • Engage in legal research and produce innovative legal scholarship.
  • Engage in service to legal education and the wider community.
  • Participate in the intellectual life of the Law Center.
  • Serve on faculty and University committees.
  • Attend faculty meetings and Law Center and student events.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Preference for both legal practice and teaching experience.
  • Willingness and capability to teach in-person and remotely, with familiarity in best practices for both modalities.
  • An established record or promise of legal scholarship.

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills in communications with supervisors, peers, subordinates, and students.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate with others.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in teaching and managing a virtual classroom.
  • Proficiency in or ability to become proficient in utilizing advanced technology tools in in-person and virtual classrooms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficiency in Zoom and Canvas or similar Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Working Conditions

  • Ability to sit at a computer and stand in front of a classroom for long periods of time.
  • Travel as needed.

Pay

Salary range: USD $145,000.00 – $200,000.00 per year.
