About the role
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at South University is seeking a dynamic faculty member with expertise in Pharmacokinetics/Biopharmaceutics. This position is designed to balance local campus interests with departmental and institutional needs, while fostering scholarly activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide didactic, laboratory, and small group teaching
- Serve as a mentor, advocate, and adviser to students and peer faculty members
- Conduct scholarly activities within the department, school, and university
- Provide input to management for planning, budget, personnel resource allocation, program development, and implementation
- Review and recommend modifications to the Department’s goals and objectives annually
- Prepare reports and other documents as requested by the administration
- Affirm assigned courses are appropriately updated for catalog narrative, course criteria, and descriptions
- Maintain a positive, cooperative relationship with the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and university staff and faculty
- Assist in recruitment and retention of quality faculty and students
- Design and provide developmental activities for faculty and staff
- Perform annual peer faculty teaching evaluations
- Promote professionalism and commitment to the profession of pharmacy
- Attend school and university functions
- Attend conferences, seminars, and conventions
- Publicize the School of Pharmacy and Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences to the public
- Represent the School of Pharmacy and Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in local, state, and national pharmacy affairs
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or Departmental Chair
Requirements
- PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a professional focus in Pharmacokinetics
- Post-Doctoral experience in Pharmacokinetics or a related field is required
- Prior teaching experience in the relevant field is required
- Membership in a professional association tied to the area of instruction is preferred

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build successful relationships with student populations
- Outstanding conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills
- Computer-based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and report writing skills)
Abilities
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accreditation criteria, state agency regulations, and academic journals
- Ability to resolve inquiries and complaints from students, regulatory agencies, and members of the academic or Pharmacy community
- Ability to effectively present information to faculty, academic and campus leaders, corporate leaders, and public groups
