About the role
The Lead Diesel Technician is an experienced master technician responsible for performing major and minor repairs, preventive maintenance, and diagnostics on fleet diesel equipment such as tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units. They work independently, troubleshoot root causes of failures, and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Complete preventive maintenance and repairs of diesel fleet equipment
- Use diagnostic tools and technology to identify issues and perform repairs
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication
- Inspect and ensure proper operation of brake systems, steering, and wheel bearings
- Accurately document work orders and repair details
- Mentor and set an example for other technicians while working under minimal supervision
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 5-7 years of practical experience in truck and tractor-trailer maintenance
Skills
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools, repair procedures, and documentation systems
- Strong troubleshooting, mechanical skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and adhere to safety standards
