About the role
Four‑Legged Fun Zone is hiring a full‑time Daycare Wrangler & Dog Trainer to manage group play and build new training classes for clients. The role offers tuition reimbursement for approved dog‑training education (up to 100 % after two years) and the opportunity to help grow the training program.
Responsibilities
- Supervise safe, positive daycare playgroups while integrating training‑based enrichment activities daily.
- Design and lead small‑group training classes (puppy basics, confidence building, manners, etc.) for daycare clients and the public.
- Manage group play and independently run group dog‑training classes.
- Monitor multiple dogs, anticipate problems, and intervene appropriately before situations escalate.
- Communicate professionally with clients and make independent decisions.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience independently leading group dog‑training classes (beyond just assisting).
- Professional dog‑training certification is welcome but not required; proven hands‑on experience matters most.
- Deep understanding of canine body language, stress/arousal triggers, thresholds, and positive‑reinforcement training methods.
- Ability to safely manage dogs of all breeds, sizes, temperaments, and play styles, including dogs up to 100 lb.
- Proven professional experience independently managing off‑leash groups of 5+ dogs.
- Strong situational awareness to monitor multiple dogs and anticipate issues.
- Client‑facing skills: clear, professional communication and independent decision‑making.
- Experience creating and marketing group dog‑training classes, workshops, or events.
- Basic requirements: 18 +, safe driving record, reliable attendance for a full‑time Monday–Friday schedule, and ability to pass a background check.
Benefits
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week.
- Base pay $22–$24 per hour.
- Class bonuses: earn an additional $5 per enrolled student when group classes reach 3+ students (e.g., a 6‑student class yields $54 for that teaching hour at the $24/hour rate).
- Up to 100 % tuition reimbursement for approved dog‑training education: 50 % after one year, remaining 50 % after two years; past schooling may qualify.
- Established business with built‑in clientele, marketing, scheduling, and billing—no need to build a training business from scratch.
- Opportunity to help create and grow group classes, workshops, and future training services.
Pay
Base pay ranges from $22 to $24 per hour, with class bonuses of $5 per enrolled student for classes of three or more students.
