About the role

Responsibilities

• Serve as a peace officer, investigating and enforcing the Colorado Limited Gaming Act of 1991 and Colorado Revised Criminal Statutes.
• Plan and execute intricate criminal and compliance investigations into alleged violations of Colorado Statutes and Limited Gaming Regulations.
• Proactively patrol casino floors as an armed, uniformed officer to deter cheating and theft while preserving the peace.
• Issue criminal summonses, prepare arrest warrants, and provide expert testimony in criminal, civil, and administrative hearings.
• Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects using specialized techniques to gather critical evidence.
• Perform comprehensive inspections of gaming devices, facilities, and records to verify compliance with Internal Control Minimum Procedures.
• Investigate and resolve patron complaints regarding jackpot awards using expert knowledge of gaming technology and state law.
• Partner with local and multi-jurisdictional agencies on case filings and provide security for Department of Revenue facilities.
• Collect and preserve physical and documentary evidence while utilizing state databases to track inventory and sales data.

Requirements

• P.O.S.T. that is active, in good standing, and free of any restrictions, suspensions, or revocations at the time of applying.
• Eight (8) years of relevant experience in investigative experience conducting both criminal and regulatory investigations.
• Knowledge of Colorado rules and regulations related to the Division of Gaming.
• Recent experience with investigations interpreting and applying statutes and researching databases.
• Additional years of experience in professional investigative and/or compliance experience in a regulatory environment.
• Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and accept supervision.
• Proven success organizing and tracking workload.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, criminology, criminal justice, criminalistics, political science, police science, law enforcement, law, psychology, sociology, and four (4) years of relevant experience in investigative experience conducting both criminal and regulatory investigations.
• A combination of related education in business administration, public administration, criminology, criminal justice, criminalistics, political science, police science, law enforcement, law, psychology, sociology, formalized apprenticeship program, certification, and/or relevant experience in experience conducting both criminal and regulatory investigations equal to eight (8) years.

Benefits

• Starting salary of $41.24/hr.
• Any earned shift differential and/or overtime.
• A $5,000 sign-on bonus ($2,500 awarded upon hire and an additional $2,500 after 6 months of service).

Schedule

Rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call status while off-duty for emergency and supervisory response.
