About the Role
Employees in this job function are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and products that meet customer needs. This role involves the full software development lifecycle, including software architecture design, coding, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. Full-stack software engineers who develop both front-end user interfaces and back-end services are included.
Responsibilities
- Engage with customers to deeply understand their use cases, pain points, and requirements, demonstrating empathy and advocating for user-centric software solutions.
- Solve complex business and technical challenges by designing, developing, and delivering solutions using various tools, programming languages, frameworks, methodologies (Agile), and technologies.
- Evaluate application and service requirements to determine the most appropriate technology stack, integration methods, deployment strategy, and overall solution approach.
- Create high-level software architecture designs that define the overall structure, components, and interfaces of applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Owners, Product Managers, Architects, Designers, and other stakeholders.
- Define and implement software testing strategies, guidelines, policies, and processes aligned with organizational objectives, industry regulations, and best practices.
- Continuously improve application performance and optimize solutions through implementation of new technologies and development practices.
- Utilize modern engineering practices, including:
- Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Continuous Integration (CI)
- Continuous Delivery (CD)
- Support security best practices to safeguard user data, including encryption and anonymization techniques.
- Design and develop user-friendly, interactive interfaces.
- Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices using server-side technologies.
- Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies and capabilities while actively participating in the evolution of new technology stack layers and industry solutions.
- Define, design, and deliver new features using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), APIs, and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Collaborate effectively with Product Managers, Product Owners, and UI/UX Designers throughout application development and support.
- Perform technical design, coding, test automation, production support, and documentation of software application enhancements and modifications.
- Deliver high-quality code through rigorous engineering standards, continuous integration, and testing practices.
- Develop test plans, execute testing strategies, and support continuous release processes.
- Lead engineering efforts for complex solutions that support critical Connected Consumer and Vehicle Features.
- Demonstrate software craftsmanship principles and share successful implementation practices across teams.
- Develop tools and processes that automate feature delivery while eliminating waste and improving efficiency.
- Guide and mentor software engineers by communicating platform vision, breaking down workstreams, and resolving complex technical challenges.
Requirements
- Practical experience in at least two programming languages, or advanced proficiency in one programming language.
- 6+ years of overall IT experience.
- 4+ years of software development experience.

Qualifications

- Experience with Spring Cloud and cloud deployment platforms, preferably:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF)
- Proven ability to work effectively with technical specialists, Product Managers, Product Owners, and UI/UX Designers.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

Bachelor's Degree (required).

Hybrid position; on-site Tuesday through Friday.
