Full Stack Java Developer (VP)

Hybrid 4 days onsite in New York, NY. Our client is seeking a Senior Full Stack Java Developer (VP Level) to join a high‑performing Equities Engineering team responsible for modernizing a global trading platform used across capital markets. This is a unique opportunity to work on a major transformation initiative involving legacy modernization, cloud‑native architecture, microservices, real‑time messaging, and AI‑assisted software development. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a W‑2 basis.

Responsibilities

• Modernizing a 30+ year trading platform into a microservices‑based architecture
• Building scalable Java/Spring Boot backend services
• Developing modern Angular‑based user interfaces and dashboards
• Creating event‑driven solutions using Kafka, MQ, and real‑time messaging technologies
• Supporting cloud‑native application development and deployment
• Collaborating with Product, Trading, Operations, and Engineering stakeholders
• Solving complex scalability, latency, resiliency, and performance challenges
• Leveraging AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, and Claude

Experience Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience
• Proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, and the Spring Framework
• Experience building REST APIs and microservices architecture
• Front‑end development with Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML/CSS
• Working with messaging technologies such as Kafka, IBM MQ, Tibco, or similar
• Experience with relational databases like Oracle, SQL Server, or other
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Knowledge of CI/CD, Git, and DevOps practices
• Testing using JUnit, Jasmine, Karma, or equivalent frameworks
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and production support skills

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
