Full Stack Engineer

About the role

Upgraid is an early-stage startup developing a specialized AI energy model to analyze building systems from space. The company aims to reduce energy costs, improve health, and enhance attractiveness for buildings ranging from skyscrapers to single-family homes. With a focus on reducing global emissions, Upgraid works with customers to develop and deploy solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the interface where customers explore building data, view energy simulations, and act on upgrade recommendations
• Connect and normalize data from diverse sources (satellite imagery, utility records, building permits, economic data) into a unified format for our models
• Extend our FastAPI backend to serve new data products and support frontend features
• Contribute to the asynchronous job systems that run energy simulations at scale across thousands of buildings
• Figure out how to reconcile mismatched addresses, incomplete utility records, and inconsistent permit data into usable formats
• Build interfaces that help non-technical users understand key insights and next steps from energy simulations
• Work closely with customers to refine and enhance our products based on their feedback
• Ship features end-to-end in a professional environment, including personal projects or open-source contributions

Requirements

• 3 - 5 years of experience as a full stack engineer developing and deploying web applications using Python and a modern JS framework like Svelte, React, Vue, or similar
• 1-2 years of experience designing REST APIs and working with relational databases (PostgreSQL or equivalent)
• 1+ year of experience wrangling imperfect data—cleaning, transforming, or integrating datasets from multiple sources
• Experience shipping something end-to-end in a professional setting, including knowledge of personal projects or open-source work
• A strong sense of ownership and a collaborative work environment

• Ability to work 3 days a week in-office

Skills

• Experience with a variety of machine learning methods
• Experience working in an early-stage startup or strong interest in doing so
• Experience building B2B enterprise software

Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package including a base salary range of $100K - $130K plus equity.
